Can I remove South Carolina from Box 15 on a 1099-R entered by accident - the system did not have Texas on the list of states?

Yes, you should remove it if it is not on the form. Here's how to edit it in TurboTax Online:

1. Open your return. 
2. Select Federal, then Wages & Income.
3. Scroll down to IRA, 401(k), Pension Plan Withdrawal, select Edit/ Add to the right.
4. Select Edit to the right of your 1099-R. 
5. Continue to Enter your 1099-R details from (name), delete the entries for boxes 14, 15 and 16. You can leave them blank since you have no income tax in Texas. 
6. Continue with your return.
