1099R has Unknown in box 2a and box 2b is not shown. Is this taxable?

If it actually has the word unknown in the box then leave the box blank in the program and complete the follow up questions in that section.   For the most part the entire box 1 amount is taxable UNLESS you know of a reason why it is not ... the program will walk you thru those options.
