My 1099-R has a non-numbered box showing "Insurance: $3,979.27"

Is this value used anywhere in Turbo Tax?

The unlabeled box will have no effect on your tax return.

Did you possibly pay for a medicare supplement with the 1099-R money? If you itemize deductions it may be counted as a medical expense.
