Please see the instructions below to enter your 1099G.
If your 1099-G shows an amount in Box 1 then follow these instructions:
- Open or continue your tax return.
- Search for "unemployment compensation" and select the "Jump to" link at the top of the search results.
- On the "Did you receive unemployment or paid family leave benefits in 2020?" screen, answer "Yes".
- Follow the onscreen instructions to enter your 1099-G information.
If Box 2 (State and lox tax refunds) is filled out and you used the Standard Deduction in the prior year then you won't have to worry about entering the 1099-G include it because it is not reportable.
But if Box 2 (State and local tax refunds) is filled out and you used the Itemized Deduction then please follow these instructions:
- With your return open in TurboTax, search for 1099–G (don't forget the dash!) and then select the Jump to link at the top of your search results.
- This will take you to Did you have any of these types of income? Answer Yes.
- On the following screen, check the first box State or local income tax refunds and continue.
- Answer Yes to Did you get a state or local tax refund?
