1099-B question - what does the "X" mean with no box 1e, 1g or box 2 information. Indicated noncovered security. Gift received in 1998

two lines indicate long and short term gains and boxes have info.  One line though described as above.  Do i claim this? Sale was of what was purchased with dividend reinvestment

Check your 1099-B. If there was no box 1e, 1g, or box 2 information on your 1099-B, then TurboTax is prompting you to indicate that. Otherwise, the software does not know that there was no information for boxes 1e, 1g, or 2.
