Stimulus Payments

My Mother-in-Law passed away on August 9, 2020. She had low income and received the first Stimulus

check for $1200.00. She did not receive the second payment for $600 and may not be entitled to it?

TurboTax is claiming the credit and increasing her refund. Is this treatment correct? My e-mail address is: [email address removed]

Stimulus Payments

I'm sorry for your loss.

TurboTax is correct. Your late mother-in-law is eligible for both stimulus payments.

Only individuals who died prior to January 1, 2020 are not eligible for the Recovery Rebate Credit.

Please read question B1 in this IRS FAQ.

Stimulus Payments

Deceased taxpayer has received stimulus payments. Why should she receive stimulus credit on her 1040?

Stimulus Payments

If she received the full stimulus payments, there won't be an additional credit allowed.
