Did you e-file your return & was it accepted? If you recently e-filed your return, then the IRS may not have your information in their system yet. Since your husband was on Social Security he already received his stimulus money because the IRS used the banking information from his Social Security information. Once your return is processed by the IRS, then you should receive your stimulus money.
The IRS is closed but they are still processing e-filed returns. It is taking the IRS longer to process returns. You are getting that error because the IRS has not yet started to process your return, so your information is not in their system yet.
If the IRS does not get your 2019 return processed, they would use the information from your 2018 return (if you filed one). If you did not file a 2018 return, & the IRS does not get your 2019 return processed in time, you will be able to claim the stimulus money on your 2020 return (filed in 2021).
I did not know you mailed in your tax return. With the Covid-19, the IRS is not currently able to process individual paper tax returns. Since you already mailed in your return, it will not get processed, do not file a second tax return or write to the IRS to inquire about the status of your return or your economic impact payment.
Mailed in returns will be processed once processing centers are able to reopen.
The stimulus payment is technically a refundable tax credit, which reduces your 2020 tax bill on a dollar-for-dollar basis. ... It's an advance of a refundable tax credit — not an advance of your tax refund itself. So if you qualify & don't receive your stimulus money this year, when you file your 2020 return, you will get the stimulus money.

I mailed our return this year since we were not getting a refund or owed anything. We haven't filed in years, the only reason we filed this year is because I received a 1095-a from my insurance. What does it mean that I can claim it on my 2020 taxes if I don't get it?
Thank you
