Improve Credit Score

How do I improve my credit score when I have a parent plus student loan for one of my children and they have not made payments on it or the interest, other than paying on it myself. I check my credit score twice a year and it is around 735. It shows the delinquency in the student loan payments. I will be retiring in about six years and would like to refinance my home to get some equity to update my home to sale or stay in. It would beneficial for me to get a good interest rate now.
