I would like to amend father's tax return to enter a change in cost basis and depreciation for a rental residence when his spouse died 2 years ago 2017 in California.
Father recently passed away 2019.
I would like to amend for him for 2017 and 2018.
I understand how to amend for change in cost basis and depreciation for 2017 and then carry through for 2018.
However, who should sign the amended returns?
There should be a refund, and I am wondering how to get this refund into his estate?

condolences. executor or administrator signs the amended returns....if none then anyone in charge of deceased's property. file 1310 and the refund check should be made out to person filing the form.
Thanks!
