hi,

I just filed my federal and state return (Mi) and realized I did not include the payments I made for tuition and school-related expenses for my son in college.  It was over $13,000 dollars in expenses in 2020. Should I amend my return?

Yes, you will amend your return.  Amend will not be available in TurboTax until late March.  When Amend is available, sign into TurboTax and follow the Amend directions.  When you amend you go through all of the amend screens.  You will enter the amounts from the 1098-T that was sent by the school.

If any funds were from a 529 plan or a Coverdell plan, you will receive a 1099-Q for that plan if you are the plan owner.

TurboTax will check to make sure your receive the maximum tax credits for the education expenses.

Here is an overview of entering Education expenses in TurboTax.
