Where do I type in the amount of rent I paid for my home?

I live in Indiana and should receive a credit on my state return. However, Turbotax is not giving me the option of typing the rent amount on my return.

In TurboTax Online, report the Indiana Renters Deduction at the screen Renters Deduction in the Indiana state income tax return.

The Indiana 2023 IT-40 Individual Income Tax Booklet, page 16 states:

Renter’s Deduction

  • You may be able to take the renter’s deduction if:
  • You paid rent on your principal place of residence, and
  • You rented a place that was subject to Indiana property tax.

Your “principal place of residence” is the place where you have your true, fixed, permanent home and where you intend to return after being absent.
