When you buy property for investment purposes it's a Capital transaction.

In TurboTax Self Employed Go To:

• Personal >> Investment Income >> Stock, Mutual Funds, Bonds, Other >> Select >> "Start/Update"
• Did You Sell and investments in 2016 >> Select >> Yes
• Did you get a 1099-B or a brokerage statement for these sales? >> Select >> "No"
• Choose the type of investment you sold >> Select >> Everything Else >> Select >> "Continue"

Follow through the rest of the screens, filling in the fields as appropriate.
