Using Form 4797 to report sale of 1031 assett held 9 years. I put in approximate vales to guesstimate tax owed. Now I want to enter actuals. TT will not let me edit entries. Nor will it let me delete form so I can start anew.

The following links can be used to delete forms.  Use the link based on the TurboTax product you are using.  Once deleted you should be able to go through each asset to edit or correct the sale information.

You'll need to delete this form --------------------.

  • If you're using TurboTax Online software and need to delete a form, click here.
  • If you're using TurboTax CD\Download software and need to delete a form, click here

I would also suggest you use the following to clear any unwanted data pieces before and after you delete any forms.

In this situation, first please try clearing the cookies and cache.   It handles many issues that seem nonsensical on a regular basis.

  • Close your TurboTax return first.

Watch to be sure you are selecting 'all time' as example.  Do not use selections like 'last hour' for those browsers that give  you options.

Once this is complete open your return to review or enter or edit your sale information.
