If you still own the stock you should not enter it in TurboTax. You are only required to enter stock you sell to determine the capital gain or loss.
TurboTax asks for the sale date when you enter or download a 1099-B. Is that the case?
If you received a 1099-B then you did sell the stock, even if you don't think you did, even if you have stock with the same or very similar name. What's the name of the stock?
