TurboTax 2022: Seeing that my return processing has been delayed beyond the normal timeframe

Hi, 

I filed my taxes for the 2022 tax year, and seeing the following: 

"we apologize, but your return processing has been delayed beyond the normal timeframe. you can continue to check back here for the most up to date
information regarding your refund. we understand your tax refund is very
important and we are working to process your return as quickly as possible." 

What does this mean? What is the normal tax processing timeframe? Is there an issue with my refund?

Will a refund date be provided?

The IRS issues most refunds in less than 21 days.   And yes, a refund date will be provided.  Even though they issue most refunds in less than 21 days, it’s possible your refund may take longer.   The IRS is likely reviewing some aspect(s) of your return.  

Some tax returns take longer to process than others for many reasons, including when a return:

• Is filed on paper
• Includes errors, such as incorrect Recovery Rebate Credit
• Is incomplete
• Needs further review in general
• Is affected by identity theft or fraud
• Includes a claim filed for an Earned Income Tax Credit or an Additional Child Tax Credit. 
• Includes a Form 8379, Injured Spouse AllocationPDF, which could take up to 14 weeks to process

They (IRS) will contact you by mail when (or if) they need more information to process your return.   If they’re still processing your return or correcting an error, neither Where’s My Refund? nor their phone representatives will be able to provide you with your specific refund date.

i have the same issue. filed 3/27 but status still the same message as of 4/18. i called them and they said they still haven’t gotten to it.

They do take a different amount of time to process each return. Once they process the return, they will update the IRS website. @psk
