Trust Depreciation on Return

I am the trustee and 100% beneficiary for one property. It is being depreciated. When I filled out the turbo tax form the depreciation amount is showing up on the 1041 form on line 15a. Last year's return it wasn't on that line and showed up on my Schedule K-1 as a directly apportioned deduction. Have I done this right?

Thank you.

Trust Depreciation on Return

It depends on what type of trust you're dealing with here. I don't know enough about trust to be of any real help here. But I do know that there are some trusts types where the depreciation stays with the trust. Then there's other types where depreciation is apportioned to the beneficiaries of the trust.

If you can provide more details on the trust, hopefully someone that can help, will jump in here.

The depreciation deduction typically follows the distribution from the rental income.

Generally, if 100% of the income is allocated to the beneficiary then 100% of the depreciation deduction is also allocated to that beneficiary.
