Should I say YES to "Did either of you make money in any other states?" if my husband is a pilot who is currently based at an airport outside of the state we live in?

If his W-2 has income reported for that state, then yes.

If box 16 of the W-2 shows any state other than your state of residence, then the answer is YES, you did make money in other states.
