Short sales of stocks

I have 3 short stock sales that I need to enter and cannot recall how to do this. I cannot import from broker due to account being transferred and closed. The sell/buys are all closed out. Using Desktop Version of Premier.

Thank you for any help!

In order to close a short you must go to the market and acquire some securities.

On Form 8949,  the Date Acquired is the date you closed the short sale.
The Date Disposed is the same as the acquired date.

From this you can see that a short is always a short term capital gain or loss, no matter how long you are short.

Even if you can't import, can you download (or request paper copy) of your transactions to guide you and keep for your records?

Here's more detailed info in Tax Tips for Short Sales and more discussion on Reporting Short Sales.
