We gave our tenants an eviction notice in Nov. 2018 which gave them until 12/31/18 to move out. This was done so that we could put the house on the market. However, they refused to move out and we had to go through the eviction process. We did not get them out until the end of March 2019. So we technically did not rent the house at all in 2019. Turbo tax Home and Business is telling me that I should delete it as a rental property. We had a lot of bills in 2019 to get them evicted and to repair the house so that we could sell it which happened in July. Should I delete as a rental and if so how do I claim the costs that we accrued for when it was rented?
