House is rented by a company for 1 year, mid2022-mid2023. They paid 1 year rent in 2022, issued 2022 1099-MISC for 1 year rent amount, What amount should I report?

My rental property is rented by a company, from mid 2022 to mid 2023, for 1 year. They paid rent for an year in 2022 itself. I got a 1099 for 1 year rent amount. Since the duration of the rent also falls in 2023, I was wondering if I should report the full amount in 1099 as is in my 2022 returns, or split it for 2022 and 2023 myself. Please suggest.

If you received payment in 2022 you should report that amount on your 2022 taxes.

A.  Report the full amount.

Income is reported in the tax year it is received. Doesn't matter what year it may be for.
