Is there a deduction for money lost through a scam investment

I have claimed $1500 for the past 2 years for a $60,000 loss to an investment scammer who is now in prison.  Can I continue to have a write off for this loss?

You can continue to write off the loss. A loss on an investment would be a capital loss, which is applied to capital gains in the current year and then an additional $3,000 ($1,500 if filing married- separate.) You an carry the unused loss forward indefinitely.
