If my income doesnt cover my rent and a friend gives me money to help with my rent, is that counted towards my income? Do i need to report that somewhere?

It seems like this is a gift. If so, the money is not taxable income for you.

However, if there are services that you perform for your friend for this money. The money would be income that would need to be reported on your tax return.
