I sold about $5000.00 worth of stock last year, but reinvested about $3000.00. Where do I show that I only received $2000.00 as income?

I want my tax return to reflect my reinvestment of $3000.00 in Stock, but can't figure out where to include that on my return.

They don't go together.  If you sold, $5,000 that gets reported on the tax return. You did get $5K of income and that needs to be shown on the return.

The purchase of the $3,000 does not get shown on the return, it only gets entered when it is actually sold.
