Got stock as a gift original owner purchase date unknown

My mother acquired Exxon Mobil stock back in the 1940's when it was Humble Oil.  My father gave me 10 shares back in 1985.  I have no idea what to put for original owner purchase date

Getting the exact date correct is not going to matter.  You can just pick a date in the 1940's or you can use "Various".

And you might as well use a purchase price of zero.  Be sure that "various" is showing up as long-term.
