Deduct for expenses on house not rented YET

I moved out of my house in June 2019 but started fixing it up to rent. This activity continued into 2020. Can I deduct the expenses for the work I have been doing to get the house ready to rent?

Since the Rental Property was not ready to rent in 2019, you can't deduct expenses related to repairs in 2019.

You can deduct expenses after the property is ready to rent (or between renters), even if you had no rental income.
