Claim a loss

I purchased a condo for my son who was to pay all costs including monthly mortgage payments.  My name is on the mortgage and deed.  Last year I paid all monthly mortgage payments due to his changing jobs, and lack of funds.  Can I claim a loss for $30,000+?
