Copy of Tax Return

Hi,

I have filed my 2025 tax return.

It has been accepted.

I don't want to change my return.

But I would like to change a copy of my 2025 return.

And use the TurboTax system to modify this copy.

This would allow me to estimate next year's taxes.

I am retired and will be making quarterly payments to the IRS.

Is this possible?

Thank you.

Best Regards,

Donald

Was your 2025 return prepared in Online TurboTax or the desktop software?   You should NOT experiment in a filed Online return.  If you ever have to amend an online 2025 return, it has to start off as originallly filed.

In the desktop version, however,  you have a couple of options we can tell you about for running various scenarios--once you save a backup copy of the original tax data file for archival purposes that will not be touched.  We can tell you more if you use the desktop product.

    Hi mesquitebean,

    Thanks for your reply.

My 2025 return was prepared using Online TurboTax.

I do not want to amend my online 2025.

Or experiment on my filed Online return.

Any recommendations for the Online TurboTax version?

    Thank you.

No, there is no way to run scenarios in your online TurboTax account.  If you try, it will mess up your current Online return and overwrite it irretrievably.   You can download a PDF copy of your return and do manual calculations, or you can play around with the online TurboTax Taxcaster tool, but it estimates for Tax Year 2025:

H&R Block also has a tax estimator (again it's for 2025)
