First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:  https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/   Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control.  TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.     You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 35a of your 2024 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:    https://www.irs.gov/refunds   To track your state refund:     https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/track-state-refund/L3jgO8PGs_US_en_US?uid=lt447ebr   If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing     https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/refunds-take-longer-others/L14YlqFrH_US_en_US?uid=lexdr7zh . https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/irs-refund-taking-longer-21-days/L2vRAJbdU_US_en_US?uid=lexe7lst

Opened TT this morning & ran the update. After the update I keep getting error code 70001. I have rebooted 5 times, uninstalled & re-installed TT, ran the program as administrator & TT does not open. I did notice that when I try to open as administrator I don't get the error code, however all that happens is a pop up asking if it is ok for TT to make changes, then TT closes. I am the only user on my computer & only have 1 account. Then when you try to call for assistance you get an AI assistant that can't answer your question. What ever happened to real people & customer service?

Social Security mails out SSA1099's to you in January.   Wait for your SSA1099.    Go to Federal> Wages & Income>>Retirement Plans and Social Security  (SSA1099 and 1099RRB) to enter your SSA1099.   HOW TO GET SSA-1099 If you cannot find your SSA1099,you can get one from your nearest Social Security office, or there is a way to go on the Social Security website and request one.  Go to www.ssa.gov  You have to create an account with a user name and password. https://www.ssa.gov/myaccount/replacement-SSA-1099.html https://www.ssa.gov/onlineservices/ https://www.ssa.gov/myaccount/
Your return will probably be rejected.   The IRS begins to accept/reject returns on January 26.   When it rejects, go to MY INFO to correct the date of birth.

I did see on a Community post where you can switch to Forms view and manually fill in the 1099R sections, with the caveat that you will have to verify them using the regular software steps, once the upgrade is released.  Kind of kludgy, but I was able to at least get a decent approximation of my tax liability today, rather than next week.  I would not file my taxes using the 1099R Forms approach only. I am using Turbo Tax Deluxe.  FWIW.

I had the same problem.  I fixed the problem by removing Microsoft Visual C++. I am using Windows 11.  Go to settings then select apps and then select installed apps. You can then uninstall the Visual C++ app(s). I had several copies of Visual C++ installed.  You also have to uninstall Turbo Tax 2025.  After that, you have to reinstall Turbo Tax 2025. During the installation you will see that Turbo Tax reinstalls Microsoft Visual C++.    Best Regards, Rollin Justen

I have deleted history and catch on Chrome. I downloaded Firefox only to try Turbotax. I downloaded the app. It seems it is linked to my account somehow. Once I login, it loads up the summary from last year that says something about importing last year's tax info. I click "get started" and that's when the error pops up on both browsers and app. The app was just downloaded a few days ago. Been like this for 3 days now. Any help?

Maybe you are waiting for some forms.  Click Review to see if you are missing some forms needed in order to e-file.   Many federal and state forms are not yet available.  Check here for form availability. The dates are subject to change.   Tax form availability tool     Be patient.    IF you e-file now, your return will go into “pending” until the IRS starts to accept/reject returns in late January. You cannot make any changes while the return is on the server. The IRS will start to accept/reject 2025 e-files on January 26.   And….a state return cannot be accepted until after the IRS accepts your federal return.
Obvious bug in Turbo tax that could be fixed.
