Some of my information was incorrectly entered, which is why I owed so much for 2024. I am looking to get the errors fixed, so I am able to get a refund from the IRS.

I have several accounts that have RMDs. On one account I did not take an RMD as I I met the annual RMD when I add the totality of my accounts that have RMDs. Obviously, I didn't receive a 1099 from the account from which I didn't receive any money. Do I have to report any information about this one account and if I have to report it, for information purposes only, how do I do that?

First, we need to know about your Federal return. If you already filed your Federal return previously, how did you file it? Did you efile the Federal return, and if so, has it been accepted yet? The status should show at the Tax Home. Or did you choose to print and mail the Federal return? A state return status of "printed" or "ready to mail" means the state return has not yet been efiled in that account. For some reason TurboTax thinks you had planned to mail a paper return. We may be able to tell you what to do to change the filing method to efile, if that's what you wish to do. But it depends on how you answer my question above about how you filed the Federal return.

This gotta be the most annoying thing ever. Every time I try to file with TurboTax for WHATEVER reason my birthdate is "wrong". Every time I would go to a tax person and they never have any issues. Why is that? I checked my previous 2023 and 2024, yup matches the birthdate I'm putting in "My Info". The problem isn't the SSA or IRS, it's TurboTax because every year it's the same BS. I waste an hour+ of my time doing this on turbo tax only to go to a tax person to do it for me and enter the EXACT same birthdate.

Some states are fairly quick with refunds, while other states can take a long time processing returns as they crack down on detecting fraudulent returns. Here are some things you should check: First, you need to be sure your state return was successfully filed. If you efiled, be sure your efiled state return was accepted. If you used Online TurboTax, you can check by looking at the Tax Home in your Online account. Or did you choose to file by mail instead? TurboTax does not mail it for you. If you chose that method, you have to print, sign, date, and mail it. The FAQ below tells how to check on a state refund. When you scroll down further there, you will see a link for your state. You may have more than 1 account. But in any case it is NOT found at the Documents tab in the left column. You start by going to the Tax Home page. I'll tell you below how to find it, and how to look for other accounts, if necessary. This answer assumes your previous returns were prepared in Online TurboTax. Any return prepared in desktop TurboTax will not be in an Online account. Here's how one would normally find past-year online returns and how to troubleshoot for multiple accounts (User IDs) if necessary. Many people end up with more than 1 account. The pathway to download the PDF or tax data file depends on whether or not you have started an online 2025 return. I provide both scenarios below, so choose which one is appropriate for your situation. If you have not yet started a 2025 online return: Sign in to your account. What you see next depends on whether or not you have already started a 2025 return in that account. If your left column menu is minimal, and does not have a Tax Home tab displayed, that would imply you have not started preparing a 2025 return in that account. If you haven't yet started a return, it will start asking you some questions. Answer those preliminary questions on a few screens (you don't actually have to prepare a return), and then when you are far enough into the process, the left menu column will change, and you'll then see a Tax Home option in the left menu column. Do not click the Documents tab. Instead, click on Tax Home. Then on the Tax Home screen, scroll way down to the bottom to "Your Tax Returns & Documents". Expand that section and choose the past year you want. If your past returns are not shown there, then you likely have multiple accounts and signed into the wrong one. I'll tell you below how to troubleshoot. If you have already started a 2025 online return: Log in, and if you've already started a 2025 return in that account, then it may already open at the Tax Home. If not, click the Tax Home tab in the left column menu. Do not use the Documents tab. At the Tax Home scroll down and expand "Your Tax Returns & Documents." If the past returns are not there, see the steps below. If you do all that and can't find the past return, here's how to look for multiple accounts: You can have up to 5 accounts that use the same email address for notification purposes. A User ID may be an email address, but it doesn't have to be. It might be only part of an email address, or it can be anything at all. To get a list of your User IDs, reset password, and recover account access, etc., you can use the tool at the link below. When using the Account Recovery tool, try using your phone number first if you can still access it. After that, if necessary, then run the tool on your email address(es) you can access. NOTE: Before running the account recovery tool below, log out of all Intuit accounts including this user forum, or you might end up in a loop. Then clear your browser Internet cache, close your browser, then reopen it, and go to the link below. You may wish to copy this link so you can paste it into the new browser session. https://myturbotax.intuit.com/account-recovery If still no luck after running that on your phone number you can still access and email address(es) that you can access, here's another method: Go back to the tool again, but this time leave the data field blank, scroll down a bit, then choose the small blue link that says "Try something else", and it will look you up by other parameters.

Are you referring to the email address used for notifications as opposed to an email address that was used for a User ID? These steps are for the notifications email address, but if you are also asking how to change your User ID, you can also do that while in the account settings, if desired. Once in your account, go to the left menu column, and scroll way down and click the tab Intuit Account. In the account settings choose the left column tab "Sign In & Security." After you correct your email address, it may try to verify it. If it doesn't, see if there is a little tag by it that says "unverified." If so, you can click on that little tag to verify.

@ Demisac2 asked: "I am attempting to efile my federal and state returns. It has been transmitting for over 45 minutes. Any suggestions." You appear to be using Online TurboTax, so that's what I will address. Normalliy, it should transmit in a couple of minutes or less. If it's been going that long, it seems it's not likely to suddenly start working. So I'd abort and try later after checking these things: See if any of these work: Clear your browser Internet cache, and history. Try your browser with private browsing window (incognito mode). If you have a second browser, try that (again with private browsing.) f using a VPN, turn off the VPN if you can safely do so; i.e., if you are not using public wi-fi. (You shouldn't be using public wi-fi for sensitive tax returns anyway.) If using a wireless connection, try with a wired Ethernet connection if you can. Shut down your computer, modem, and router. Wait a couple minutes then restart the modem, then 30 seconds later start the router, then 30 seconds later start the computer back up. If you want to try it, you can see if efiling the Federal return by itself will work. If you do, and it works, then, you'll have to wait for the Federal return to be accepted in 24-48 hours or sooner before you can efile the state return by itself. If you have to report back, please state if you are using Windows PC or Mac.
