@ porsha905   Oops, I mistyped above.  I originally said within 5 days prior to the IRS release date for the funds, but I meant to say within 5 days prior to the IRS settlement date.   I have edited that above.  Sorry for any confusion.   The TurboTax paragraph I pasted above says it correctly.   I caught it pretty quickly, but you may have been emailed a copy of the original before it was corrected.

@ porsha905  asked:  "What if you don’t receive your return 5 days early?"   Edited 4/19/2025 at 10:56 PM Pacific In the first paragraph below I had said "IRS release date" when I meant to say "IRS settlement date."  It's now been corrected. ******************************   I don't know if you chose that offer with the option for your refund go to your bank account or to go to a Credit Karma Money checking account.   But in any case, if it's not within the 5-day period prior to the IRS settlement date, then you should not be charged.  See the TurboTax statement lower down.   Actually that offer says "up to" 5 days early, so it's not necessarily the full 5 days.  You shouldn't be charged (hopefully) if it doesn't arrive early at all.  If you do get charged anyway, we can tell you how to phone TurboTax Support.   "Up to 5 Days Early Guarantee: If your federal refund is not deposited into your selected bank account at least 1 day before the IRS refund settlement date (the date it would have arrived if sent from the IRS directly), then you will not pay the Up to 5 Days Early fee."   https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund-advance/turbotaxs-five-days-early-refund-delivery-options/L9U8ngZlH_US_en_US

You didn't say what you are doing, so I'll take a guess.  Are you referring to the IRS "Where's My Refund" tool?   If the IRS "Where's My Refund" tool is not finding your information, here are some things you should check.   First, you need to be sure the return was successfully filed.  It depends on how you chose to file the return.   If you filed a paper return by mail, TurboTax does not mail it for you.  If you chose that method, you would have had to print it, sign it, date it, and mail it yourself.  It takes at least 4 weeks for a mailed return to show up in the IRS WMR tool.     If you efiled, double-check to be sure the return was efiled successfully and accepted.  If you used Online TurboTax, you can sign into your Online Account and check the efile status at the Tax Home.  If you used desktop software, you can check from within the software. If that showed it was accepted, (or if you mailed a paper return), you can use the "Where's My Refund" tool at the IRS website below to monitor the status of your Federal refund.   https://www.irs.gov/wheres-my-refund   If that IRS tool says it's not finding your information, here are some tips:   If you efiled, be sure you have waited at least 24 hours after acceptance before using the IRS WMR tool.   If you mailed a paper return, it won't show up in the tool for at least 4 weeks or longer. Be sure you enter the correct tax year, SSN, and filing status. Be sure you are using only the Federal refund amount.   Do not include any state refund or any total refund or net refund (Fed and State) that TurboTax may have provided on a screen.   Look at your actual Federal return to get the Federal refund amount, i.e., your Form 1040, Line 35a. If the IRS WMR tool is not finding your information, you can also try phoning the IRS refund hotline, again using the figure from Form 1040, Line 35a. I've seen it work for some users when the WMR tool didn't.  800-829-1954
There was a question essentially asking "Did I receive a '??????? payment' ( from the US /Fed Gov't) for 2024?"
With MFS, you must coordinate your deductions, both Standard, or both Itemized.   If you got this message with REJECTED, he already filed.   @stbrocato

Hi, I understand what you’re saying, and why it’s incredibly frustrating to have people tell you to increase your withholding when you have no earned income (salary).   im going to suggest you contact AARP (too late for this year, but maybe talk to them to plan for next year). They have a program to do your taxes for you, and it’s no cost to you. I hope this suggestion helps, and that you actually get this message! “The Tax-Aide program is the largest free tax-assistance and preparation service in the U.S. Beginning in February, thousands of AARP Foundation volunteers who have been trained and certified by the IRS welcome older adults in various locations across all 50 states.“

Hi, thanks for the reply. I was using Live Assisted and found out that I need to use the desktop TurboTax Business to do the amending. Thanks again.
Yes, same thing. Spent 30min on the phone with a customer service person, no solution.   I fixed it by getting another software and redoing the tax return. No problem with it and much cheaper.

The deadline to roll over an ordinary HSA distribution is the 60th day following the date of the distribution, subject to the limitation of one rollover in a 12-month period.  For a distribution in March, that deadline would be sometime in May.  The issue is still that the 2025 Form 1099-SA will show an return of contribution rather than an ordinary distribution, so rolling the distribution over will still likely require explanation to the IRS (and perhaps to the HSA custodian if they question the source of the rollover).   Changing line 9 to $6,300 doesn't make any sense to me if the code-W amount is $9,300 and you were actually eligible to contribute $9,300.  I don't know how you would have changed line 9.   I also don't know  how it's possible for exactly $3,000 of a $9,300 contribution to your HSA to be an excess contribution under any circumstances other than your wife making a personal HSA contribution of $3,000 to her own HSA which you haven't mentioned.   I don't understand what you mean when you say that the amount on line 18 "became" $0.  It should always have been $0 because you made all of your HSA contributions through your employer.

@PeteC1 wrote:  I did this and it indicates wait of up to 9 months for processing. What number type of letter was it--such as 5071C, 5747C, 5447C, or something else?  The number is usually in one of the right corners, either top or bottom.   Are you sure it said "9 months?"   On the IRS website there are FAQs for those verification letters listed above that say after verifying it can take "up to 9 weeks" for processing.   But that doesn't necessarily mean it will take that long.    If you can still see what it mentioned about the time frame, I'd look again to be sure it didn't say "weeks."    I realize that 9 weeks, too, is a long time to wait, but better than 9 months.   I can provide you the FAQ link if you state the letter number type.   If you paid for the "get refund up to 5 day early" option, that charge may (hopefully) drop off, or if it doesn't,  you can ask for a refund.      Also be aware of this: Did you pay upfront with credit/debit card at the time of filing, or did you choose to pay your TurboTax fees out of the Federal refund?    The following only applies if you chose to pay out of Federal refund.   If you already paid upfront, this will not apply to you.       If you did not pay upfront and chose instead to pay  the TurboTax fees out of the Federal refund, then obviously the Federal refund is going to be delayed.   So when that happens, at some point in time TurboTax will want to be paid.  So if you used that option, they will likely start sending you emails instructing you to go ahead and pay the fees.  And if not paid after a certain time, they will debit your bank account for their fees.  So don't disregard any emails.   Phone TurboTax Support with any questions or problems concerning the fees.

Yes, all income was entered into the tax program. The only income received in 2024 was from CPP disability (T4AP) and a pension (T4A). Neither one of these lines are included in the calculation for income to compare against the qualified lump sum payment form. This is what is triggering the error message because the amount on the qualified lump sum is greater than the sum of certain lines on the T1 General. This is preventing me from submitting the tax return electronically.
