you really sent your 2025 taxes. If you used the free addition, TurboTax won't help unless you upgrade. if rejected, you can post the rejection code/message in this thread and resubmit. Users of this forum may be able to provide a solution. However, certain reasons for rejection cannot be corrected in which case you'll have to fix your return, if needed, and file by mail following the TurboTax filing instructions.

For TurboTax yes, that ship already left.  I'm just wondering how long a reprieve Microsoft will grant us for other apps that really don't care about Windows 11 (like competitors to TurboTax, for those folks that choose that route).   I run a lot of apps that really don't care about Windows 10 either; Windows 7 works fine for them as well (though I gave up on that version a long time ago).  There's also Compatibility Mode that can be used to workaround the most common issues with older apps.  Would be nice if there was a Forward Compatibility Mode hidden in Windows 10 somewhere.  😏

seemingly this OP filed before you. This will make e-filing for you for 2025 impossible. It will have to be mailed. In situations like this, the IRS sends notices to both parties asking to amend. if the OP doesn't, the IRS sends a second notice asking for info to prove you are who you say you are. It will tell you what documents can be submitted. In this case you will have to respond.

@JohnQT It's only a matter of time before you'll need W11, use online, create a VM, or use a pro which to some is as bad as online. You'll notice that the desktop versions no longer support W7 or W8!

WARNING: That file may not be recoverable if he prepared his return after you. Online accounts can have only one person's return. If he did his return after you, that irrevocably erased your file. To try to recover your file, you would need the phone number, email address, or user ID for your friend's account not yours. Then the issue is that TurboTax will send a text or email with a verification code to your friend's phone or email which is needed to access his account. Thus, your friend and you would have to coordinate this so the account can be accessed to see if your file is there.   Of course, your friend can do this directly by checking his account to see whose file is there. If it's yours, he can upload it to a removable drive which he then gives you. However, to open the 2023 tax file you'll need to purchase the 2023 TurboTax app with all states that were in your return. If your return contained one or more states, the file cannot be open unless the states are installed on your computer.  https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/past-years-products/2023/     if recovery is not possible, you can get a copy from the IRS https://www.irs.gov/forms-pubs/about-form-4506  or a transcript either online or thru the mails  https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript

The point is that there are still six more years of ESR support "guaranteed" for Windows 10 Iot Enterprise Edition.  Which means that Microsoft could easily do the same for Windows 10 Home and Pro editions.   Yes, that's only security updates, but that's all we need.  We don't care about "enhancements, improvements, or even bug fixes that are, and will be, released in updates for Windows 11".  We just need a reliable Win32 API platform to run the apps that we need to run.  Windows 10 works fine for that.  😉

Microsoft has ALREADY DITCHED Windows 10!   It's not rocket science: Microsoft is ONLY issuing security updates for Windows 10, not enhancements, improvements, or even bug fixes that are, and will be, released in updates for Windows 11.
