A 1098E shows interest paid for a student loan. Did you make payments for a student loan in 2024? Can you go to the lender's web site to get the statement or the 1098E?

This is extremely disappointing. I've used the app for many years. Last time they planned to shut it down, I was really concerned but then grateful for the decision to keep it alive. I use it every year and I am not sure what I will do without it... With business travel and so many other things going on, being able to drop a quick post into the mobile app is not just convienent, it keeps me from missing donations that happen outside of responding to formal campaigns, etc

It's fairly common that employers will not withhold Ohio (or other employee resident states) tax. They just don't want to go thru the hassle. They don't have to withhold NY income tax if you never work there. But the rules for NY withholding, for out of state workers, is messy and many employers just take the easy way out. You'll have to file a NY return every year for a refund, if they won't stop withholding.
Worse case: you end up paying NY tax, but get a credit on your OH tax return for the income tax you pay NY. There's no credit for any SDI and PFL taxes you end up paying.

The user has a real problem and I also have it on both of my laptops. It says I have used all 5 of my license allotments but it doesn't realize that the computers I am using are part of the 5. So I can't do anything even though I have paid in full. For 2024 only it requires logging in even with the desktop version. This is a new and important big which TurboTax must fix as soon as possible.

I spoke to TurboTax Support and let them know that the removal of It's Deductible will cause me to look elsewhere. The support person was very nice, and said she would pass my comments on to the presidents office. At least the person that I spoke to admitted she did not do her own taxes on Turbo Tax using It's Deductible as I explained if you did, you would not even consider getting rid of It's Deductible. She was very helpful and pointed me to where to cancel my automatic renewal. As we are just one month from the posted termination date, I have lost hope that they will reconsider. Guess they really don't care if they loose loyal customers.

If you had read the fine print (which you really should, especially with things like this), you will be taxed on anything over $600 for the year. It's clearly stated. Under $600 isn't worth Amazon distributing a 1099, so you should pay attention to items that have a zero or low taxable value. I can't imagine thinking you could just receive $1000's worth of products without having to pay taxes. Sorry you misunderstood, remember under $600 ETV for the calendar year.

Hi HAL_AI, Thank you for your response. Regarding the New York State Income tax: I have spoken with my employer, and here is their response: the company does not currently file a tax return in Ohio. If they were to withhold Ohio/City tax, the company would have to file a return, which involves additional cost. There is currently no plan to do this, and it would require ELT approval. They also said that if they do not withhold New York State tax, it would trigger Ohio state tax, so they must withhold New York State tax. As for the New York SDI and PFL taxes: I only found out about them after receiving my first paycheck. I will follow up with my employer to see what they say.

@M-MTax yes Turbotax will lose some revenue from desktop users that abandon it rather than upgrade to w11. some will switch to online. however, look at the price of online. you can only do 1 return for the price vs 5 with the desktop version. thus, it will make up some of if not all its revenue loss and then add in what it might save in the costs of not have a desktop w10 version to support. I see it $$$$ ahead. I think this is analogous to why it never had a desktop mac version of Turbotax Business not enough revenue to justify the costs. also why there will probably never be a Linux version.
However, i believe people are putting off the inevitable. How many computers are running W95, Vista, XP or even W7. those would be fine for those users whose apps never need upgrading. However, internet browsers may eventually require a higher version.
my temporary workaround - have 2 computers neither W11 compliant. did install a dual boot on one and a virtual machine on the other. when Turbotax desktop 2025 becomes available, i will check to see it works on either computer and will post back with results.
and yes I agree w11 s__________________________ my first installation I check the wrong box and found documents were now being stored on the web with One Drive. so people be careful and read what it says before checking a box if you upgrade

Your fee for using online TurboTax is the same whether you e-file or file it by mail.
What is the rejection code or rejection message?
If it was rejected for AGI—-your 2023 AGI might not be in the IRS system if you filed late. Try using zero instead.
If filing with zero is rejected then file again but select the option that you did not file last year. The IRS does not see that question and it will allow you to e-file with no AGI question.
https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/agi/help/where-do-i-correct-my-agi-in-turbotax-online/00/26311
If that does not work and you still cannot e-file, then print, sign, and mail your tax return.
When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s. Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.
Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses. Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.

A TurboTax glitch from 2021 is costing me thousands in interest, and I paid TaxAudit the yearly fees and TaxAudit can’t help, so I still have to deal directly with the government. The problem is related to state unemployment: my federal 1040 was calculated correctly, but California recently billed me a very high amount of interest and a different balance. Has anyone else experienced this issue, and what are you doing about it?
