For what year? Did you have a tax due? Did you pay it? How? Your only proof is your bank account statement or credit card statement showing the payment coming out. And Turbo Tax doesn't pay any tax due for you. Turbo Tax just sends your payment method to the state. You either put down your bank account number for the state to pull it directly out of your account or you needed to mail in a check. Most states don't let you pay by direct debit. Did you check your bank account to see if it came out? You should have an instruction sheet telling you how to pay it. Oh, and you can't have a state tax due deducted from your federal refund. Never. You can only have the Turbo Tax fees deducted from your refund. See, Can I pay my state taxes from my federal refund? Check the printout or PDF of your return; look for the state cover sheet with the Turbotax logo. If you owed tax, it will show the payment information and how/when you decided to pay. Read the state payment instructions carefully since most states cannot be paid from within the TT system and requires additional steps.

I need to amend a TurboTax Business Estate 1041 tax return for 2024 that has been accepted. First ,where do I list a 1099C that I received that was sent to the wrong address, and also I have already paid taxes when I originally filed the 2024, so where do I list them as being paid. It is still asking me to pay all the previous taxes that I already paid.

Once a tax return has been Accepted by the IRS or a State, TurboTax receives no further information concerning the tax return or the status of any tax refund.
If you requested to have the TurboTax account fees deducted from your federal tax refund, the IRS will send the refund to a third party processor to have the fees and the $40 service charge deducted. The third party processor will deduct the TurboTax fees plus the $40 service charge and then attempt to direct deposit the remaining refund balance into the account that you entered on your tax return.
For the status of your tax refund you will need to contact the third party processor, Santa Barbara Tax Product Group, using their website - https://www.sbtpg.com/

Terri - I should have added that it is the TT program that is making the suggestion. The expert and I went through all the prompts and we could find no issues.

Thanks Terri - this is interesting as I paid to have the turbotax expert go through the return and they agreed that TT was advising correctly to deduct the property tax as an itemized deduction for NY even though I live in NJ. The expert could see that I was filing a non-resident NY return (work) and resident NJ return (where I live). There seem to have been a few people here asking the same question, and several people have answered that NY honors the schedule A itemized deductions - allowing NJ residents working in NY to claim the deduction and even asking them to itemize when they do not itemize on the federal return. The Q attached below is an example where the % income derived from NY is used to prorate the deduction for property tax on a non -resident return. Is the software making a mistake? property taxes with two states and new york state itemized when we have 2 states, say NJ and NY and the home is at NJ and paid property tax for NJ home. I found that the NY state return itemizing include this property tax as well. Is this correct? because that property tax was paid for NJ home. if not correct, how do I enter correctly or fix? as in federal tax section there is no section to select which state of property tax belongs to posted April 11, 2023 9:02 PM last updated April 11, 2023 9:02 PM 0 5 2,508 Reply ErnieS0 Expert Alumni Yes. TurboTax is doing your taxes correctly. All federal itemized deductions are included on your New York return (that's how NY calculates taxes). You don’t say whether you are filing a resident, part-year, or non-resident NY return. If you are a resident, NY taxes all your income, so you can claim all your federal deductions. If you are a part-year or non-resident, NY will prorate your itemized deductions according to the NY percentage of income versus total income. So if you earned 50% of your income in NY, you’ll get 50% of your itemized deductions. **Say "Thanks" by clicking the thumb icon in a post **Mark the post that answers your question by clicking on "Mark as Best Answer" April 12, 2023 5:33 AM 1 Reply

Did you e-file your tax return and was it accepted? Only the IRS and your State control when and if a Federal or State tax refund is Approved and Issued.
You complete your tax return by finishing all 3 Steps in the File section. In Step 3, to e-file your tax return, you must click on the large button labeled "Transmit my returns now".
After completing the File section and e-filing your tax return you will receive two emails from TurboTax. The first email when your tax return was transmitted and the second email when the tax return has either been accepted or rejected.
Note - Once a tax return has been Accepted by the IRS or a State, TurboTax receives no further information concerning the tax return or the status of any tax refund. Only the taxpayer listed on the tax return can obtain the status of a tax refund or a tax return.
To check the status of an e-filed return, open up your desktop product or log into your TurboTax Online Account. You can find your status within the TurboTax product. If accepted by the IRS use the federal tax refund website to check the refund status - https://www.irs.gov/refunds
If accepted by the state use this TurboTax support FAQ to check the state tax refund status - https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/track-state-refund/L3jgO8PGs_...
After the tax return has been Accepted by the IRS (meaning only that they received the return) it will be in the Processing mode until the tax refund has been Approved and then an Issue Date will be available on the IRS website.
When checking the status of a federal tax refund, you must enter the Social Security number, the Filing Status and the refund amount exactly as written on the federal tax return.
The refund amount is on the Form 1040 Line 35a
