I was almost ready to e-file Fed and State at the same time using the desktop version of TT Home & Business 2024. I was literally on the screen with the orange Submit button. I had an amount due to my state (Oregon) that didn't look right, so I went back and added some information to my state return which changed my tax due to a small refund. I ran the error checker again, and everything looked good. The e-filing proceeded fine for the Fed return, but my state return was rejected because Turbotax provided "direct debit" info when it shouldn't have. This seems to be a bug. Now TT says I have to file my state by mail. Please fix this for next year!   A general piece of feedback, also, from someone who has been using TurboTax since the mid-90's. It's all fine and good to make the user interface look nicer, and add explanations, but this should not be done at the expense of adequately testing your software before the tax filing season. You seriously need to hire humans to test the software. AI and programs do not act like real humans and do not find these errors. Thanks.

@PatriciaV Wow this is so detailed and helpful. This is what I did to add the state tax withheld to Box-13 with code ZZ: I could not find the relevant interview questions. Instead I manually added it to the Form 1065 (TurboTax Forms), as shown in the following:    I then can see this number shown up on Box-13 with code ZZ. During the Federal Individual return, I can input this number as NJ state tax withheld during the code ZZ interviews. I also saw this number reflected to my NJ-1040NR return.   I think I am able to follow everything you suggested except that I did not generate NJK-1. I used to be NJ resident and moved out two years ago. My LLC does not have any NJ resident partners, with no NJ sourced business income/loss (but I still have other NJ sourced individual income) , so I think I do not need to file NJK-1 anymore (and saved me $50 TurboTax charge for NJ K-1 filing).  Pls let me know if you have a different understanding on this later matter.   I can't thank you enough for your suggestions and help. It saved me a lot of time and worries.
Supposed to be free preparation

open your e-mail program and look in the inbox. however  original correspondence from the IRS does not come via e-mail. you get a letter by mail. any IRS notices that first appear in your e-mail account are probably fakes trying to get personal info. the only direct notification is if you e-file. then the first e-mail (from Turbotax not the IRS) will say submitted successfully or not. if successful there's a second e-mail that tells you if it was accepted or rejected

First, why does TurboTax need to disable software that was paid in full? Second, a PDF cannot be printed out if the application has been disabled. Third, possible tax audits and tax data retrieval. It is disreputable to sell software and then disable it without notice or cause. It's nobody's business why I would want to keep using software that was paid for. The license agreement states the software can be installed one or more computers owned by me. The license agreement also has no 'kill date', only implies the software will continue to work as long as the license agreement is honored by the user. I have fully complied with the license agreement, TurboTax has not!!
That's not telling me where my money is
Thank you for the tip! I was able to see the forms and understand when I previewed the whole tax return.
Thank you! I am able to see all the forms via preview and understood the amount.
hi  I made my tax return (e-filed) but I misplaced the apartment number. How can I fix it? I need to receive a letter to confirm my identity and only in this way can I receive money

I did not pay for my TT account for 2024 since I did not complete filing my return. I applied for an extension on TT couple of weeks ago and it has been accepted by IRS. How can I print Form 4868(IRS extension form) from TT website without completing my tax return? Would I have to pay for one of the TT products and I will magically be able to access this form?
How do I find IRS letters or notifications that were mailed or sent to

No problem hopefully this resolves the loop with the IRS.   Re the 2025 ES, that's probably TT defaulting to paying 100/110% of 2024 tax and you do not have to follow that if not correct, if your AGI was over 150k due to the distributions it will be 110% of 2024 but you only need to pay 90% of 2025 tax during the year so that could be a big difference.  If you go thru the interview in Other Tax Situations/Form W4 and Estimated Tax you can provide 2025 estimates and see if it gives a different answer, if you are on TT desktop there is an associated "Est Tax Options" form which has the calculations.  You can also use the same process for 2025 that you did in 2024 and pay ES when you do the conversions rather than quarterly, and then file 2210 AI method again.

@dmertz  You are correct about the entries I made on Form 1099-R.  I was expecting something from the IRA  Trustee but as you pointed out that is not a requirement and my entry on Form 1099-R handles that conversion.   I went ahead and created a 1040-X, the Form 2210 was more involved than I thought.  Anyway, when I file it there is no penalty or additional tax due.  The only change is moving the entry from line 25a to line 26.  Even TTax pops up an entry questioning my need to file the Amended Return since there are no changes.   I feel like I need to do this to keep one person at the IRS happy.  They sent me a letter of explanation and the 6 figure check.  I voided it, sent it back with a letter of explanation.  The IRS acknowledged receipt and sent me another letter of explanation of why I was getting the check and sent a new check.  I will send another letter of explanation to that person with the voided check and spell out exactly which entries were changed and why.  Given what has already transpired I do not think it will be satisfactory unless I file the Amended Return.  I believe the Amended Return is an effort worth making in order to not poke a stick at someone who does not seem to understand my explanation.   Thanks to you and @baldietax  for helping me form a plan to handle this situation.   I do have one more question.  1040ES for 2025.   The amended return has me required to file a rather large Estimate in each quarter and I'm not certain that my tax will be anymore than 75% of what TTax is telling me to file for 2025.  Do I have any choice in this matter?
This is exactly what it says in the letter.  Not exactly the insight I was hoping for when came here.
