If I had a solar panel system installed on my house this year, and i've filled out the proper forms, do i also need to include my invoice or receipt for the installment?

No.  But you need to make certain that you save it incase you are questioned on it later.

how will I go about applying the carryover next year. I didn't get the full 30% back this year, and i assume it carries over to next year?

Solar Credits question

The excess credit is carried forward to future tax years.

 

TurboTax will carry forward the credit for you and use it if applicable in future years.

 

You don't need to provide any more information in future years.
