You can use the instructions below to amend your 2024 return if you have unreported crypto transactions.   Owning crypto is not a taxable event necessarily.   A capital gain or loss will result from the disposal of cryptocurrency:

 

  • As payment for goods or services received
  • In exchange for cash
  • In exchange for a different cryptocurrency
