Cost Basis of New Construction (2nd Home)

When I calculate the adjusted cost basis of 2nd home built in 2023, can I add costs of out of town travel (mileage and daily perdiem) to inspect progress and interact with the builder?

Cost Basis of New Construction (2nd Home)

No. Any travel expenses incurred during the construction is not added to the basis to this house. Here are the construction costs that can be added to the basis.

  1. The amount it cost you to complete the house, including:
  2. The cost of labor and materials,
  3. Any amounts paid to a contractor,
  4. Any architect's fees,
  5. Building permit charges,
  6. Utility meter and connection charges, and
  7. Cost of the land.
