Changing state of residency

You will pay tax to the state where you lived based on the income earned while living in that state. For example, if you live 4 months in PA and 8 months in CA, then you would pay tax to PA on all income received during those 4 months. Then the rest would be income to CA. You will want to contact your employer to change your state of residency for them to take the correct amount for each state. Each state has different tax rates and some states have no tax at all.
