Additional Tax Withholding

My spouse and I each have a job, and two dependents. I completed the 2024 TurboTax W-4 calculator. It gave me an amount for extra tax to be withheld in order to get our 2025 tax payment to $0. Is that amount of extra withholding what we put on just one of the W-4s, or both? Also, it doesn't seem to make a difference how much I put in the calculator for pre-tax deductions. Is that correct?

Additional Tax Withholding

If you entered the combined income for you and your spouse, then the additional amount would only need to be withheld on one of you.

You can also split the additional amount between both earners if that works better for you and you will be filing married filing jointly. Pre-tax deductions through your employer are not included in taxable income so do not include in your taxable wages within the calculator.
