In March of 2022, I created a campaign to receive donations from family members and friends for my daughter's trip with Givebutter and the funds were paid with Stripe. I have been back and forth with both parties letting them know that I need a correct 1099K I still have not received a corrected one! I have already filed my taxes. What should I do?
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
When you receive the corrected 1099K you may have to amend your 2022 return. To do this you would sign into your TurboTax account,
scroll down to your prior returns and documents,
choose the 2022 oval,
choose the amend or change return from the menu available,
follow the directions to get into your 2022 return to amend it.
If you need assistance with the amend I would contact our support number when you are beginning to amend the return. That number is 1-800-446-8848, following the voice prompts to get to a tax expert to assist you with the amendment.
I overlooked the most important detail: it identifies me as an individual business owner.
Generally when someone receives a 1099K they are receiving it for some type of self-employment. This is not the case for you. When you amend you will have to add the 1099-K income and indicate that it is not received as an intent to earn income but as a one-time receipt. One of our experts will definitely be able to assist you with doing that. On the income page if you did not enter the 1099-K on your original return you will click on 'see all income' and scroll down to the income category of 1099-MISC and Other Common Income.
You will click start next to Income from Form 1099-K. Once you click start you will come to a screen where you will choose what type of income your 1099-K is for. I would choose the other under the Other category and go from there.
Again, if you have questions while doing this our experts are available to assist you.
