If you read the article closely, your credit score is not a factor in hiring for all employers - it is more likely to be a factor if you're looking for employment in the financial services industry and they need your permission to inquire anyway.

This is off-topic, but none of this "stuff" is taught in school - credit cards/scores, loans, investing, mortgages, et al. - and all of it should be.
