If you're the child of your parents (have to say it!), then making $4,050 wouldn't exclude them from claiming you. That's the rule under Qualifying Relative tests for taking a dependent. When you're under the Qualifying Child rules, you simply can't pay for more than half of your own support.
That being said, TurboTax is saying this because you told the software that you're being claimed as a dependent. To change your answer, click on the Personal Info tab >> click Edit next to the first section that lists your personal info >> scroll down to 3. A few other things we need to know and change your answer under the first question: Someone else can claim me as a dependent on their tax return. to No.
