My daughter goes to a foreign university. I looked up her school code on IRS website and got her school code. When I am filling in her school's info. TT wants a fed. id

not a school code.  I am stopped from proceeding without it.  Foreign schools do not have fed. ID no. right?

and I see the issue --- where as Dept of education suggests and IRS requires EIN for the foreign institution , there appears  no easy way to find the data.  However, under the rules the institutions are required. cajoled to send form 1098_T to you. Only then you can fill out the required information -- supposedly they do get EIN issued by the IRS for this purposes.
