Lifetime Learning Credit disappears on the next page

It says I am qualified for Lifetime Learning Credit and when I click on 'Maximize My Education Tax Break' it disappears and says I can't claim LLC in the next page. I am filing as taxpayer myself and check that no one else can claim me as dependent and I didn't receive scholarship.

It is possible that you don't have any income tax, in which case you can't receive a life time learning credit, as it can't reduce your tax below $0. Also, your income may be too much ($90,000 if filing single.) You can look at your tax return by following theses steps, your federal tax would be on line 24:

You can view your form 1040 and schedules 1 to 3 while working in the online version of TurboTax by following these steps:

  1. Click on Tax Tools in the left menu bar
  2. Click on Tools
  3. Look under Other Helpful links….
  4. Choose View Tax Summary
  5. Look in the left menu bar and choose Preview my 1040
  6. Scroll down the page to see form 1040 and schedules 1 to 3
