My federal tax return e-file was rejected because my agi was greater than $170,000 and student loan interest was over 0. The new limit for 2022 MFJ is $175,000. Has the irs just not yet updated its system to the new limit or is the new limit incorrect?

No, if you go to Current Known Issues for the IRS, it's known and is anticipated to be fixed soon with no date yet available, this is an IRS known Issue. Search for "396" if you can't find it. For PC Hold CTRL F, Mac Hold Command F, enter 396 and it should show the known issue with the MFJ 170,000 issue.

We went to submit our taxes today, February 19, 2023, and got this same exact error message. Has the issue not been resolved yet?
Yes, known issue from IRS shows not yet resolved. If your income is over the top limit of $175,000, you can delete the student loan interest as it will not be deductible.
Anyone can download the current spreadsheet and do a search as Michael G explains above.
