I want to know why I'm not eligible for education deductions.
Some reasons why you may not receive educational deductions or credits:
Your filing status is Married Filing Separately.
Your Adjusted Gross Income on your tax return is too high to qualify for educational benefits.
Your qualified educational expenses were paid for with grants/scholarships or other financial aid.
If you were filed as a dependent on someone’s return, you are not eligible to claim an educational credit or deduction.
If your income is less than the total of your Standard Deduction and Personal Exemption (total of $10,350 for a single individual), you may have no taxable income in which case an educational deduction would make no difference on your tax return.
