I purchased business. I'm trying to enter my daughter's 1098T info and it is saying we do not get the American Opportunities credit but we paid over 17000 in tuition.

I assume "I purchased business" means you are using TT Self employment. TT Business is not for personal tax returns.

Delete the student and start over. Your daughter must be your dependent.

Go through the entire education interview until you reach a screen titled "Your Education Expenses Summary". Click delete next to the student's name. You'll then get the "Your Education Expenses Summary" screen again. Click the "Add a student" button.
