Can I claim American Opportunity tax credit for son for 2017? He started in fall of 2013 and graduated end of 2017. I have only claimed it once for 2016.

I know only can claim credit for first four years of college. Is it figured by calendar years or academic years?

Yes, you may claim the credit for your son.The credit may be claimed if your son had at least one academic period beginning during the year and it is available the first four years of post secondary education.
