Are American Association of University Women dues (Paid annually) deductible if I am retired?
Generally, AAUW national membership dues, of $49, are deductible as follows:
- $46 is tax deductible as a charitable contribution, and $3 not deductible because it supports the AAUW Action Funds Section 501(c )(4) Lobby Corps and get-out-thevote activities.
- Student Affiliate dues are $17, $16 is tax deductible, $1 is not deductible.
- AAUW National Life Membership is $980 fully tax deductible.
- Note: Branch/state portions of dues are not tax deductible unless your branch/state is classified under the Section 501(c)(3) status directly with the Internal Revenue Service.
- Open (continue) your return in TurboTax.
- In the search box, search for donations and then click the "Jump to" link in the search results.
- Answer Yes to Did you make any donations to charity?
- On the next screen, answer Yes if you want to import your donations from ItsDeductible; otherwise answer No.
- Continue with the onscreen instructions.
