1098-T

I'm a little confused about doing my child's taxes in regard to the 1098-T. She is a dependent but had an internship and started working a research job at her school this past year.  During the initial setup I answered the question that she is being claimed as a dependent and Turbotax stated that the parents will be claiming the tax credit  because of being a dependent but Turbotax asked during the deduction section  about entering 1098-T information.  I just want to confirm that I don't enter in any information relating to the 1098-T and ignore Turbotax since it will be entered into my forms.

Q.   I just want to confirm that I don't enter in any information relating to the 1098-T and ignore Turbotax since it will be entered into my forms.

A.  That is correct.

An exception would be if her scholarships exceeded her net qualified expenses (after being reduced  by the amount you use to claim the credit).  Then some of her scholarship might be taxable.

Yes, if your daughter is your dependent, you can enter the 1098-T information on your tax return to qualify for the Education Credits.
